AFCON Predictions For Equatorial Guinea vs Algeria – 14 Nov
AFCON qualification draws to a close. Algeria are among the nations that have already secured a ticket, while Equatorial Guinea are fighting for a ticket. With six points to play for, the hosts have five points and are five goals clear of third-placed Togo. One point here potentially secures top 2.
Algeria are among the best teams in Africa and player for player are a level above teams like Equatorial Guinea. However, they have secured AFCON participation and take first place in the group with one point. That point may well help the hosts further as well. I wonder if they are both aware of it and are satisfied with that result. Equatorial Guinea has few absent players. Midfielders Eneme & Balboa as well as offensive Salvador (top scorer) are out.
Equatorial Guinea benefits from a strong home field. Very few teams leave with three points. Nambia and Tunisia are the only two nations in the last five years. Our AFCON Predictions says that is a good chance that Equatorial Guinea and Algeria will share the points between them.
Things To Consider
- Algeria have booked their ticket to next year’s AFCON. Equatorial Guinea is in pole position to follow them. One point is potentially enough.
- Equatorial Guinea benefits from a strong home field. Just two home games lost since 2019.
- Equatorial Guinea has selected a strong squad. Three regulars absent, but otherwise close to strongest.
AFCON Predictions For Rwanda vs Libya – 14 Nov
Rwanda dreams of its first AFCON participation in 20 years. Their best chance to keep that hope alive is to win this match. Rwanda can be pleased to have found home form recently. Four wins in the last five and a draw against Nigeria. Midfielders Sahabo and Niyonzima are still absent. Both also missed the last national team term, but all regular players are fit for the fight.
Libya has largely played its part. Although they can theoretically still reach the top 2, they will need a lot of luck to achieve it. The form curve is downward for the guests. Four of the last five games have been lost and this resulted in a change of coach in September. Unlucky, as both games under his leadership were lost, Libya comes weakened to Rwanda.
Out are the defenders Yousef & El Trbi, midfielder Al-Musrati & Elfadil as well as the offensive talent Elmsmari. The last three are the only players from Europe – Besiktas, Hamburg & Barcelona U19.
Rwanda have won four of their last five home matches. Only Nigeria left with one point. The hosts have a realistic chance for the top 2, but it requires a win here. The guests are out of form and without more of their best. Our AFCON Predictions says another home win for Rwanda.
Things To Consider
- Rwanda is fighting for top 2 in AFCON qualifier group D. They are one point behind Benin with two rounds remaining.
- Libya can in theory reach the top 2. They need to win their last two games by 6+ goals and hope Nigeria beat Benin and then Rwanda. Not very likely.
- Libya travels weakened to Rwanda. Two permanent defenders as well as all three European based players. Weakened defensively and centrally.
