Today’s Football Tips, Betting Insight & Predictions

We’re looking for value, odds and a good World Cup Betting tip for the opening match in Qatar between hosts Qatar and Ecuador. It’s actually hard to know what to think about Qatar, which is controversially hosting and participating in the World Cup for the first time in its history.

Although home advantage should play a part, Qatar may well be out of their depth, although winning the Asia Cup in 2019 suggests they should not be written off.

Qatar are led by a smart coach in Felix Sanchez, who has taken care of many of his World Cup squads through various age groups.

The hosts have also had the benefit of having spent much of this year in an intensive training camp to prepare for the World Cup, while many other national coaches have only had a few days with their teams to get ready for the first round of matches.

Qatar, who are warming up for the World Cup, have won four friendlies in a row and they also beat Ecuador 4-3 in a friendly a few years ago, which is the only time the two nations have ever met.

One key player to watch is Hassan Al-Haydos, with the Al Sadd striker having scored 36 times for his country. Al-Haydos is odds 5.00 to score anytime, and that looks to be a fine World Cup betting suggestion for this match.

Unlike the World Cup hosts, Ecuador have a decent history at the tournament, having qualified three times before and reaching the last 16 in 2006, although they missed out on Russia 2018 altogether.

Ecuador has won at least one match every time they’ve been to the World Cup. With Qatar appearing to be the weakest team in Group A, Ecuador’s price of 2.25 to win at MrGreen is appealing.

However, it seems safe to say that it will be a close and tense match on Sunday.

Qatar kept four clean sheets in their six matches at last year’s Arab Cup, while only scoring over 2.5 goals in one of Ecuador’s last 12 matches. In fact, seven of their last 10 matches have ended either 0-0 or 1-1.

Ecuador go to the World Cup on the back of three consecutive draws, but they should have enough to overcome Qatar.

Moises Caicedo is poised to be one of the big stars of the tournament, and he should play a big role in their midfield throughout the tournament.

Odds of 1.50 at MrGreen for under 2.5 goals seem very likely, and 2.50 for under 1.5 goals is also an option that should be considered as a serious betting proposition.

Our best betting suggestion, however, is for something completely different, which doesn’t bode well for a super exciting match. Both teams aren’t exactly top of the pile for this World Cup, and we’re actually leaning towards an unseemly, tactically locked match that could very well end 0-0, or 1-1. Well paid at odds of 3.05
